Wye is placed at an ancient ford of the River Stour, & a Roman camp and villa stood at a places.

A college was founded within 1497 as a Latin school and seminary by John Cardinal Kempe, Archbishop of Canterbury and Lord Chancellor. It has been a portion of London University since 1902. On the Downs east of a village is a crown carved around the chalk by students in 1902 to commemorate the investiture of Edward VII.

Tin this text was it used to be that a racetrack here: the foremost race was do on 29 May 1849, the go 2 May 1974. These are described when existence "Less than one mile round, and more suited to a greyhound track than a racecourse, Wye could not be entirely classed as the ideal preparation for a tilt at the Champion Hurdle".

Ever-changing system of transportation in the 19th century reduced its importance, and left in todays world's historic village & farming centre. Ton text is a train station here, built whilst a line from either Ashford to Margate was opened on 1 December 1846 by the South Eastern Railway.

The farmers market is held in Wye on the 1st & third Saturday of monthly.
